The Women Leaders Speaker Series presents local women leaders who will share the challenges they have faced in their careers, how they overcame them and how they defined their own paths. Join us for our WRC Persons' Day speaker with Frances Wright and celebrate the WRC's 6th Birthday!
LASO - Linking People enhances students in the Latin American culture and integrate individuals to the University of Calgary community through discussions, activities and crafts. This is an opportunity for students to have cultural exchanges and practice some Spanish.

The WRC is considered one of the most beautiful and innovative spaces on campus. All of the wall space within the Centre is dedicated to women's paintings and photography. If you are interested in showcasing your artwork at the WRC, please download a submission form from our website.
Take a look around. A recent study suggests that one in four of those around you have experienced symptoms of depression. You, your family members and your friends are not alone in this experiences National Depression Screening Day is a yearly event that raises awareness around depression by providing free and anonymous screening for depression through a short online questionnaire. The test does not attempt to offer a diagnosis, but points out to participants or absence of depressive symptoms and offers a referral for further evaluation, as necessary.

Research is being conducted by Sexually Assault Resistance Education (SARE) to test the effectiveness of two interventions on sexual assault and rape resistance for university women. By participating, you could win up to $500, receive $30 gift cards and other prizes. You must be a first-year female student between the ages of 18 and 24 to participate in this research.
This has been approved by the University of Calgary Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board, ethics ID: 23834. A female Research Assistant will make arrangements to talk with you on the phone to explain the study.

From October 29 to November, the University of Calgary is holding its first Mental Health Awareness Week. While this will consist of a variety of events throughout the week, it will culminate on Friday with a "Voices of Mental Health" speaker series. The goal of this speaker series is to break down the stigma and barriers surrounding mental illness by hearing from those with a lived experience of mental health issues.
We are still looking for student speakers.

December, the Women's Centre of Calgary operates a toy room for women and families in need. To do this, they need donations of new unwrapped toys for children (ages 0 - 18) and unwrapped gifts for mothers and single women. Drop off any donations at the Women's Centre of Calgary!
